5 mistakes that are holding back sales in your area (and how to avoid them)

30 July 2025

Do you notice that some customers are buying less? Do they always order the same thing, or do they struggle to introduce new features? Sometimes, what’s blocking growth in a region isn’t the market… but certain business habits that can be adjusted.

Here are 5 common mistakes we see in the channel, and above all, how to avoid them to boost sales and strengthen relationships with your customers.

1. Not knowing much about today’s restaurant owners

Bars and restaurants have changed. Many want to differentiate themselves, stand out with details, or are looking for practical solutions they weren’t familiar with.
➡️ Avoid this by asking about their service, peak business hours, whether they have a terrace, whether they offer takeaway… This way, you can offer them products that really suit them.

2.- Always selling the same thing

“White napkin, 30×30, pack of 100”… and nothing else. If you only offer the usual, the average ticket stagnates.

➡️ Avoid it this way: Reinforce your offering with unique products like kangaroo-style napkins or cutlery holders, decorated or personalized tablecloths. There are many ways to grow without changing customers.

3.- Not telling a value story

Many restaurateurs don’t know that there are compostable napkins, more hygienic products, or formats that save time. ➡️ Avoid it this way: Every product has a story to tell: savings, image, sustainability, speed… Learn to tell it. And if you need arguments, we at La Pajarita can help you.

4.- Letting new things slip by

Some distributors don’t introduce anything new for months. The result: the hotelier buys the bare minimum.

➡️ Avoid this by bringing new ideas with each visit. Even if you don’t close an order that day, you’re seeding future sales and demonstrating your value as a supplier.

5.- Not supporting the hotelier in their daily work

Customers need more than just products: they need ideas, support, solutions.

➡️ Avoid it this way: Why not share a photo of how they can present their table with your products?

Have you seen yourself reflected in this?

It’s okay. We all fall into inertia sometimes. The important thing is to act. If you want ideas to boost your sales in a specific area or client, count on us.

At La Pajarita, we help you sell more and better.
