What tablecloth to choose according to your type of restaurant?

The tablecloth in your restaurant is going to be one of the elements that has the most visibility. They will direct the environment while helping to generate an experience for diners.

That is why it is essential to choose the right tablecloth according to the type of restaurant you have.

Choose the tablecloth according to your type of customer and the price of your menu

As we always tell you, you must adapt the decoration to the style of your restaurant.

In this case, this means that before choosing what type of tablecloth you are going to buy in your restaurant, you must be clear about what you are going to offer and what audience you are going to target.

The decoration and materials of a restaurant aimed at young people (who do not want to spend a lot of money) will not be the same as that of one where family meals or only adults usually go.

The choice for each of them will be totally different.

At this point, and to try to segment the types of restaurants, we are going to divide them by menu price.

In restaurants where the price of the menu is cheaper, they usually have higher turnover and a type of clientele that does not have high expectations in terms of materials and decoration, since what they want is something quick and do not have time (or do not care). for the qualities of the tables and the decoration.

On the other hand, as we increase the price of the menu, diners will have higher expectations in terms of quality, decoration… That is why they will be willing to pay more.

Average menu price: €10-25

In restaurants where they usually offer a menu of between €10-25, being a relatively low price for the times we live in, they can afford to save costs on the raw materials they use.

Here we propose some examples of tablecloths that you can use if you have this type of restaurant and their prices per diner (thinking of a table of 4 diners).

You will also see some comparisons between white, designer and colored tablecloths. You will see how designer tablecloths are really worth it, since they are cheaper than colored ones and are not as sober as white ones:

Paper placemats + Paper napkins

mantel-elegir-segun-tipo-restaurante-mant-ind-blanco

White paper individual tablecloth: €0.025/diner.

2-ply paper napkin 40×40 1/8: €0.035/diner.

mantel-elegir-segun-restaurante-mant-ind-buen-provecho

Paper individual tablecloth Buen Provecho: €0.035/diner.

Punta Punta paper napkin 40×40 1/8 Black: €0.060/diner.

mantel-elegir-segun-restaurante-mant-ind-burdeos

Bordeaux paper individual tablecloth: €0.045/diner.

Punta Punta paper napkin 40×40 1/4: €0.057/diner.

You will see that in all cases the price per diner does not exceed €0.10. A really cheap price that can allow you to save costs and make your menus profitable if they are cheap.

Paper tablecloths + paper napkins

que-mantel-elegir-segun-restaurante-mantel-blanco

White paper tablecloth: €0.04/diner.

Punta Punta paper napkin 40×40 1/4: €0.036/diner.

que-mantel-elegir-segun-restaurante-mantel-tablas

Paper tablecloth 100×100 boards: €0.05/diner.

2-ply paper napkin 40×40 1/4 Red: €0.051/diner.

que-mantel-elegir-segun-restaurante-mantel-burdeos

Paper tablecloth 100×100 Bordeaux: €0.07/diner.

Punta Punta paper napkin 40×40 1/8 Black: €0.060/diner.

This time, as they are paper tablecloths that cover an entire table, we have done the calculations assuming that the table is occupied by 4 diners. So the price of the tablecloth per diner is much cheaper.

Using large paper tablecloths (100×100 for example) will greatly reduce your costs and have greater profitability per diner.

Newtex tablecloths + paper napkins

que-mantel-elegir-segun-restaurante-mantel-newtex-azul

Newtex tablecloth 100×100 (any color): €0.19/diner.

2-ply paper napkin 40×40 1/4 Blue: €0.051/diner.

que-mantel-elegir-segun-restaurante-mantel-newtex-marrakech

Newtex Tablecloth 120×120 Marrakech: €0.20/diner.

Punta Punta Print paper napkin: €0.043/diner.

In this material the price per diner increases a little more, since Newtex is made of 100% polypropylene and is more resistant than paper. It gives greater protection to the table.

Even so, you will see that for just 1 cent more you can have a designer tablecloth and you can change the basic color of the background tablecloths.

Average menu price: €25-€50

The price of the menu is already relatively important in these cases, so you will have to meet minimum expectations of quality and image in order to strengthen the arguments for charging this type of price per menu.

The materials should already be a little higher quality. That resemble the fabric in touch, softness and quality.

We propose a series of combinations along with the price per person (always counting a table of 4 people for large tablecloths):

Airlaid tablecloth + Airlaid napkin

mantel-airlaid-blanco

Airlaid Tablecloth 120×120 White: €0.31/diner.

Airlaid Napkin 40×40 1/4 White: €0.13/diner.

que-mantel-elegir-segun-restaurante-mantel-praga

Airlaid Tablecloth 120×120 Prague: €0.38/person.

Airlaid Napkin 40×40 1/4 Black: €0.21/diner.

que-mantel-elegir-segun-restaurante-mantel-gogreen

Airlaid Tablecloth 120×120 GoGreen: €0.50/person.

Airlaid Napkin 40×40 1/8 GoGreen: €0.21/diner.

In these cases we see how, for a few cents more compared to paper or Newtex tablecloths, we can have a tablecloth that has a great resemblance to the fabric.

A difference of between 10-15 cents per diner that, with the price of the menu you have in your restaurant, you will practically not notice and customers will know how to appreciate the quality.

Spending per diner has not increased as much compared to the profits you can obtain from each service.

In addition, Airlaid is a 100% biodegradable and compostable material.

So you can offer an ecological image to add a plus to the arguments of your menu price.

Newtex Individual Tablecloth + Airlaid Napkin

mantel-elegir-segun-tipo-restaurante-mant-ind-newtex-parole

Newtex Parole Individual Tablecloth: €0.12/diner.

Airlaid Napkin 40×40 1/4 Black: €0.21/diner.

Newtex Individual Tablecloth (any color): €0.08/diner.

Airlaid Napkin 40×32 Brown Kangaroo: €0.18/diner.

By having a restaurant with a medium/high price menu, it is likely that you have beautiful tables that you are not interested in covering (either because you like them, or because you have invested a large amount of money in them, or because of both).

If this is your case, we suggest using Newtex individual tablecloths combining them with Airlaid napkins.

The combination of materials looks great.

Average menu price: +50€

We are talking about restaurants with a high cachet.

If you have this type of restaurant, you most likely use or have used fabric tablecloths to dress your tables.

This material option that we propose is the one that most closely resembles fabric.

With the change you will be able to save money compared to the fabric and your clients will hardly notice the difference, since it has a great similarity in feel and drying.

As always, we offer you combination and prices per person (table of 4):

Novotela tablecloth + Novotela napkin

novotela-blanco-100x100--1

Novotela Tablecloth 120×120: €0.34/diner.

Novotela Napkin 40×40 1/4: €0.16/diner.

You can see that, despite being the material most similar to fabric, it does not have a big price difference compared to Airlaid.

If you have a quality restaurant and are thinking about replacing the fabric, Novotela will allow you to save on costs and improve your profit margin.

The size of the tablecloths is important

Depending on the type of tables you have, you will need to choose one tablecloth size or another.

Having an old, worn-out table is not the same as having an elegant, wooden table that is fashionable and that has cost you an arm and a leg.

Large tablecloths for old, worn or unattractive tables

It is possible that you have a restaurant that is many years old, so a large number of diners will have passed through your establishment. Which implies a lot of wear and tear on tables.

Or that the tables have become outdated due to the evolution of fashions.

Buying new tables means making a large investment that you may not be willing to assume.

That’s why we propose an alternative: use tablecloths to cover them.

que-mantel-elegir-segun-restaurante-mantel-praga-cubre

The ideal thing for this type of tables is that you use large tablecloths that cover them completely, to hide as much damage as possible.

Tablecloths with measurements of 100×100, 120×120, on a roll… you have a large number of measurements from which you can choose.

Depending on the size of your tables.

Large tablecloths for new and attractive tables

If you have new tables, just purchased, that are in the latest fashion, you should protect them so that they last the maximum amount of time possible.

One of the solutions that usually fit perfectly in restaurants that find themselves in this situation is to use 100×100 or 120×120 (square) tablecloths and place them crossed against the position of the table.

que-mantel-elegir-segun-restaurante-mantel-garden

That is, letting the ends of the tablecloth fall on the straight part of the table to leave the ends of the table visible.

This way you leave the table visible while protecting it with the tablecloth.

Placemats for attractive new tables

Now, you may love your tables and don’t want to cover them under any circumstances.

Alright. But we still recommend that you protect them so that they last much longer.

As?

Using individual tablecloths.

mantel-elegir-segun-restaurante-mant-ind-cordoba

This way your tables will be completely visible and the area that the diner is using will be protected from stains, scratches and any damage.

Adapt the tablecloths to the rest of your restaurant’s decoration

Image is very important in a restaurant business.

If you do not have a decoration in line with the style of restaurant you have or with the message you want to convey, you will not be able to succeed in this hyper-saturated market.

That is why we always recommend that you adapt your tablecloths and napkins to unify the image of your restaurant and have an even greater impact.

If you have a restaurant where you sell an ecological and sustainable image, why not use tablecloths and napkins in brown tones like those from our GoGreen Range?

que-mantel-elegir-segun-restaurante-gogreen

On the other hand, if you have a coastal restaurant, you are near the beach and your specialty is seafood, the ideal is that you use tablecloths and napkins in accordance with that theme. Like the Costa Nova Range.

Or our Marinera napkin

Fabric tablecloths or single-use tablecloths for your restaurant tablecloths?

So that your customers correctly perceive the image that you intend to convey in your restaurant, you already know that the material you use in your tablecloths is very important.

There are materials that are intrinsically related to the quality you want to provide in your restaurant.

If you have a high-turnover restaurant with low prices, it is normal to use paper tablecloths. Your clients will not be drawn to it if you use this type of tablecloths, since they already expect to have them on the tables.

Likewise, if you have a higher quality (and higher priced) restaurant, you will most likely use fabric tablecloths or products similar to it.

And this is the reason for this point.

Should you use fabric tablecloths for your restaurant? Or should you change them for TNT (Non-Woven Fabric) tablecloths?

We already told you in this post ths reasons why you should choose Airlaid over fabric. But, in short, you should choose TNT tablecloths because:

  • They are more practical. Since when it comes to cleaning the table it is much faster for the waiter: a scoop, to the trash (or recycling point) and that’s it.
  • You can change the design whenever you want. While with fabric ones you are forced to always have the same ones.
  • Non-woven tablecloths have a printability that fabric tablecloths do not have.
  • Savings on laundry costs.
  • Respect for the environment. Above all, with Airlaid, which is a 100% compostable and biodegradable material.

All this taking into account that TNT has materials that have a great similarity to fabric. And you practically don’t notice the difference.
